The Gunslinger Resident of Overwatch now has a new name: Cole Cassidy

Overwatch developers have officially renamed the resident shooter from Cole Cassidy. Blizzad confirmed that the character of Jesse McREE has now disappeared and has been replaced by an honest cowboy.

Blizzard decided to change the name of the main character of Overwatch due to an internal change within the company following a series of allegations of sexual harassment and toxicity within the management of the business. This change is part of the intentions of the company to distance itself - and the game - from the former Game Designer Jesse McREE, now dismissed, which has been dismissed for allegedly promoted a toxic culture at the workplace.

In addition to the official name change, Blizzard also removed any dialog mentioning the name of Jesse McREE in Overwatch. Everything would be re-recorded to refer to Cole Cassidy. Cole Cassidy will debut in the Overwatch universe on October 26th.
