What happened? As the company announced, Probablymonsters have collected $ 200 million in a series-A financing round 200 million dollars. According to the Portal Forbes, it is the largest sum that has ever been raised by a video game developer in such an early round of financing.

Probablymonsters, however, is not a developer studio in the traditional sense. The company was founded in 2016 by Harold Ryan and sees himself rather as a mother's company of a family of games studios.

Who is Harold Ryan? Ryan started in 2001 at Bungie as a test manager and rose to the CEO over the years. In 2016 he left bungie then to start a little later probablymonsters.

In 2019, the new company in a financing round was $ 18.8 million, which has been blown up again. More than 230 employees are now employed by the company, which should work on it to develop independent AAA titles.

With on board are former developers of Destiny, Halo, God of War or Apex Legends.

Probablymonster has 3 projects in planning

This makes probablemonster from: The company invests in new developer studios and developers. It wants to create an environment there, according to its own statement, to create talented game developers, create, creating and empowering, creating extraordinary interactive experiences (via probabablymonsters).

Meanwhile, the company is behind three different studios, all of which should work on Next-Gen AAA Franchises.

  • The one is the Studio Firewalk, which works on an online multiplayer game for the PS5. How exactly is the appearance, is not yet known. However, here is explicitly spoken of an AAA game, so a work with a lot of budget. There should be an exclusive Publishing Deal with Sony.
  • The second studio called Cauldron also works on an AAA game. However, this should be a story-driven singleplayer adventure.
  • The third studio is not yet known by name. However, there is to be worked there on a new cooop RPG game.

With the money collected now, as far as a single AAA project is hedged, that you can offer stable, creative and durable careers in the Game Development area, so Ryan (via Probablymonsters):

Our goal is to make probelymonsters to a home in which developer with visions build a meaningful career, thriving in a positive culture and generations of players around the world can offer amazing experiences.

Also, if not much known to the respective projects, the concept of Ryan seems to convince the investors. The philosophy of the company has already been known for a long time - now the necessary money for the projects is evidently.
